Coming soon: a new series of Glam Realism photographs created with Isa Zapata — part of the ongoing series Girls Like Us.
This body of work sits at the intersection of contemporary photography and fine art photography, exploring identity, presence, and self-staging through a cinematic visual language. Rooted in the aesthetics of film noir and chiaroscuro lighting, the images merge documentary intimacy with a heightened, almost theatrical precision.

Glam Realism — A Defined Visual Language
Glam Realism is about presence.
The style combines:
deep shadows and sculptural light (chiaroscuro)
the tension and mood of film noir
a direct, unfiltered gaze rooted in contemporary portraiture
The result is a form of fine art photography that feels both raw and staged — controlled yet emotionally immediate.
Girls Like Us — Contemporary Narratives
Girls Like Us is a photographic series centered on women who define themselves on their own terms. It is not about categories — it is about visibility.
Within the context of contemporary photography, the series reflects:
autonomy and self-representation
intimacy without explanation
strength without performance
Each image exists as a standalone moment — not as a narrative imposed from the outside, but as a presence captured in real time.
Between Documentary and Staging
This work intentionally moves between:
documentary observation
and constructed visual composition
That tension is essential.
It positions the series within a broader discourse of contemporary fine art photography, where the line between reality and image is not resolved — but used.
Visual Direction & Aesthetic
Shot in controlled environments with minimal interference, the images rely on:
directional lighting
high contrast tonal range
reduced visual noise
The aesthetic draws from classic photographic traditions while remaining anchored in a modern, culturally aware context.
Coming Soon
The full Girls Like Us series will be released soon as part of an expanding body of contemporary photography and fine art photography works.
More images, prints, and behind-the-scenes insights will follow.
