New Series: Curtain and Mirror

With Curtain and Mirror, Sahin Dellemann introduces a new photographic series within his ongoing artistic practice of Glam Realism. Set within the world of ballroom culture, the series explores the moments that exist before performance, between identities, and behind appearances.
Rather than focusing on the spectacle itself, the photographs turn toward the quieter rituals surrounding it: preparation, anticipation, observation, and transformation. These are the moments where performance begins long before an audience is present.
The first work in the series, The Entrance, follows a solitary figure approaching the stage. Suspended between private and public space, the image captures a fleeting moment of transition—a threshold between who we are and who we choose to become.
Photographed in black and white, the series combines documentary observation with cinematic composition, drawing on the visual language of theatre, portraiture, and contemporary fine art photography. As with much of Dellemann's work, reality and performance are not treated as opposites, but as interconnected parts of human experience.
The Entrance is now available as a limited edition print on Saatchi Art and will soon also be available through Atelier Dellemann.
