Berlinale 2024 – A Full-Day Photographic Journey with the Cast of The Strangers’ Case

At the Berlinale 2024, I spent an entire day documenting filmmaker Brandt Andersen, actress Yasmine Al Massri, and Yahya Mahayni, whose powerful screen presence includes acclaimed work with Martin Scorsese. Our day unfolded across several locations in Berlin — from quiet pre-premiere moments to backstage energy, the red carpet, and the atmosphere after the world premiere of The Strangers’ Case.

Accompanying the cast for a full day allowed me to create a visual narrative that goes beyond typical festival portraits. The images capture authentic interactions, cinematic moods, and documentary-style storytelling — a blend of refined portraiture and behind-the-scenes realism.

The Strangers’ Case premiered as one of the most discussed titles of the festival, and photographing the team around it felt like witnessing a film’s emotional arc in real life: anticipation, intensity, relief, and celebration.

This series is part of my ongoing work exploring contemporary film culture, character-driven photography, and the unique energy that surrounds major festivals like the Berlinale. This full-day assignment flows into my wider work under Sahin Dellemann Photography and into my upcoming project 15 Minutes.
